ADAMS, ARTHUR JOHN, brother of William Frederick Adams (qv); b. 9 Jul 1853; adm. from King’s Coll. Sch. 1 Oct 1866 (James'); left Dec 1869; Gonville and Caius Coll. Cambridge, adm. pens. 9 Oct 1871, matr. Mich. 1871, but resided only five terms; entered army from militia as Lieut., Royal West Surrey Regt. 20 Nov 1875; Capt. 15 Feb 1886; half-pay 24 Dec 1890; retd. 24 Dec 1895; still in Army retired list 1929 (not 1933).
