Feb 1728/9; left 1735; apprenticed to John Seale 26 May 1736; a London merchant and banker; MP Barnstaple from 1754; one of the assistants of the Russia Company 1756; a Director of the East India Company 1760, 1763-4; created a baronet 4 Aug 1764; m. 9 Apr 1746 Anna Maria, dau. of John Abraham Korten, merchant, Hamburg; d. 16 Aug 1766.
