ARDEN, RICHARD PEPPER, 3RD BARON ALVANLEY, brother of William Arden, 2nd Baron Alvanley (qv); b. 8 Dec 1792; in school list 1803; left 1806; Christ Church, Oxford, matr. 1 Feb 1810; Cornet, 15th Light Dragoons 14 Mar 1811; Lieut. 3 Oct 1811; Capt., 2nd Garrison Batt. 26 Apr 1815; half pay 25 Dec 1816; 32nd Foot 8 Jul 1819; Maj., 84th Foot 26 Sep 1822; Lieut. -Col., half pay, unattached 30 Oct 1823; retd. 4 Jun 1829; served in Peninsular War; succ. his brother as 3rd Baron Alvanley 16 Nov 1849; m. 30 Apr 1831 Lady Arabella Vane, youngest dau. of William Vane, 1st Duke of Cleveland KG; d. 24 Jun 1857.
