List of Boys in Ashburnhman House

This file contains details of boys of Ashburnham House. It includes their name, home address, date of birth, date they entered the school, comments on the boy from their preparatory school, a list of subjects in which they achieved 'O' and 'A' levels and comments on their academic development, qualities and interests. Some entries also include comments on the boys' parents and their occupations, and notes on when boys were confirmed. The entries are arranged alphabetically by surname.

Ashburnham House Lists

These lists give the names of boys in the House and the form they were in. Some lists also note those who left each term. Near the back of the volume are three programmes for a production of 'Dandy Dick', performed by the House in Feb 1967.

Ashburnham House Absentee Register

This book gives a list of boys in alphabetical order by surname and notes the days on which they were absent or late each term. There is a list giving details of the Head of House and Monitors at the start of each term's entry.

Ashburnham House Absentee List

This book gives the names of boys who were absent or late each day in Ashburnham Upper form and their reasons for being absent or late. It also includes other details such as those who forgot to bring in various forms, and warnings and punishments given out for bad behaviour. At the end of the book is a list of House footballers, watermen and fencers which also indicates those who had received pinks.

Ashburnham House Absentee List

This book gives the names of boys who were absent or late each day and their reasons for being absent or late in Ashburnham Upper form. It also includes details of various warnings and punishments given out for bad behaviour as well as events in which the House was involved such as sports matches, concerts and assemblies.

Ashburnham House Accounts

This volumes gives details of the income and expenditure of Ashburnham House. Inserted throughout the volume are various receipts for purchases. From Election Term 1950 the ledger records the income and expenditure of the House Store. Records of the House funds continued to be noted in a separate book, but this is not in the archive.

Ashburnham House Warnings Book

This book contains a list of offences for which boys received warnings. Entries include the date, name and offence for which the boys for warned. At the start of each term are details of the Head of House and Monitors who gave these warnings. There are no warnings recorded between 1929 - 1944. In 1941 Homeboarders House combined with Ashburnham House and entries after this date include warnings given to boys from both houses (it is usually indicated to which House the boy belonged). At the end of some terms there are general comments about behaviour within the House.

Ashburnham House Black Book

This book gives details of punishments given to the boys for bad behaviour each term. Entries include the name of the boys receiving punishment, the date, the offence, the punishment they received and any other remarks. There is a list at the start of each term with the names of the Head of House and the monitors who administered the punishments. When strokes were given the initials of the monitor who carried out the punishment are noted. At the end of each term there are general notes on discipline within the House. \r\n\r\nIn Play Term 1941 Homeboarders House was amalgamated with Ashburnham House and so there are two sets of monitors until Play Term 1942 when complete amalgamation between the two Houses took place and they were known as Homeburnham. In Play Term 1943 Homeburnham partially amalgamated with Busby's House until Play Term 1945 and some entries include punishments in Busby's.\r\n
