        May have gained some financial benefit from his wife's uncles estates [and enslaved people] on Antigua, but 'Aubrey appears to have had little connection to slave-owning apart from possibly the above; he was also, on the other hand, a staunch advocate of the abolition of the slave trade in 1807.'
