AUDELEY (alias SAMPSON), JOHN, son of Sampson Audeley, Verger of the Abbey, and his first wife; b. ; adm. ; KS 1542-4; appears in the accounts as John Sampson and once, at Mich. 1543, as John Audeley; printer and miscellaneous writer; produced ballads, news sheets and religious tracts at his printing house in Little Britain, Aldersgate, London; fined several times for printing “other men’s copy”; author and printer, The Fraternitye of Vagabondes, 1565; m. ; d. Aug (?) 1575. DNB s. v. Awdelay (and TLS 5 May 1932).
