BARNARD, ANDREW, son of Thomas Barnard (adm. 1737/8, qv), and his first wife; b.; adm. 22 Jan 1776; left 1780; Capt., 27th Foot, 4 Jun 1782; half-pay, 1783-94; Secretary, Colony of Cape of Good Hope 1797-1802 and from 1806; m. 31 Oct 1793 Lady Anne Lindsay, authoress of Auld Robin Gray, eldest child of James Lindsay, 5th Earl of Balcarres (S); d. at the Cape of Good Hope 27 Oct 1807, aged 46.
