Oxford, matr. 4 Jul 1738; MA 1742; MP Yarmouth (Isle of Wight) 14 Dec 1744-7; mental instability was already evident while he was a MP; succ. father as 3rd Earl Granville 2 Jan 1763, but did not take seat in House of Lords; m. Elizabeth --- (said to have been French); d. 13 Feb 1776.
