        DICKINS, FRANCIS, only son of Ambrose Dickins (qv); b.; at school under Markham and Smith (Steward, Anniversary Dinner 1777); presumably “Dickens”, Christian name not stated, who appears in school lists 1764-7; Trinity Hall, Cambridge, adm. fellow commoner 28 Dec 1767; probably travelling in Italy 1772-3; a Gentleman of the Privy Chamber 1779; MP Cambridge 29 May 1788-90, Northamptonshire 1790-1806; of Wollaston Hall, Northants., and Branches Hall, Suffolk; m. 21 Apr 1778 Diana, dau. of Lord George Manners-Sutton MP; d. 23 Dec 1833, aged 83.
