DIXON, WILLIAM JERROLD, eldest son of William Hepworth Dixon, St. James’s Terrace, Regent’s Park, London, author and journalist, and Marian, dau. of James MacMahon, Ardwick Green, Manchester; b. 24 Mar 1848; adm. 13 Mar 1862; QS 1863; left Dec 1866; while helping to save lives in the terrible ice accident in Regent’s Park on 15 Jan 1867 he caught a severe chill which rendered him more or less an invalid for the rest of his life; adm. Inner Temple 15 Apr 1867, called to bar 26 Jan 1870; South-Eastern Circuit; Hon. Secretary, Savage Club; Secretary to Dublin Sanitary Commission 1879; author, Married Another, and of numerous magazine articles; d. unm. at Dublin 20 Oct 1879.
