Camb., adm. 17 May 1770; MA 1770; an Usher at the School in 1747; travelling tutor in Italy 1750-1; Head Master of Felsted School, Essex 1750-77; ordained; Rector of Layer Marney, Essex 1 Dec 1764-77; Vicar of Isleworth, Middlesex, from 13 Dec 1777; FSA 29 Mar 1770; a contributor to Archaeologia; m. his cousin Mary, dau. of Rev. Nathaniel Drake, Canon of Lincoln [described as “Canon in Lincoln Cathedral” (FMG 1162)]; d. 13 May 1801. DNB. [But note that no Rev. Nathaniel Drake was Canon Residentiary or Prebendary of Lincoln : was he a Minor Canon ?].
