DRUMMOND, JOHN, eldest son of Colin Drummond, Commissary-Gen. and Paymaster to Forces in Canada, and Katherine, dau. of Robert Oliphant, Rossie, Perthshire; b. 1754; adm. 19 Apr 1765; of Lennoch and Megginch, Perthshire; member of Council and Deputy Commissary-Gen. and Paymaster, Canada 1776-81; MP Shaftesbury 5 Jul 1786-90; subsequently in financial difficulties; m. 4 Aug 1788 Lady Susan Fane, half-sister of John Fane, 10th Earl of Westmorland (qv); d. 13 May 1835] [But Whitmore believed that the admission of 19 Apr 1765 was that of John Hay-Drummond (1756-80); was this John Drummond in fact an OW ?]
