Edward Finch (afterwards Finch-Hatton) MP, diplomat and courtier, and Elizabeth, dau. of Sir Thomas Palmer, Bart. , MP; grandson of Daniel Finch, 6th Earl of Winchilsea and 3rd Earl of Nottingham (qv); b. 30 Jun 1747; at school under Markham (J. Peile, Biog. Reg. Christ’s Coll. Camb. , ii, 278); Christ’s Coll. Cambridge, adm. fellow commoner 8 May 1764, matr. Lent 1765; MA 1768; assumed additional surname of Hatton after that of Finch 1764; of Eastwell Park, Kent, and Kirby Hall, Northants. ; MP Rochester 18 Sep 1772-84; FRS 7 Dec 1775; m. 10 Dec 1785 Lady Elizabeth Mary Murray, second dau. of David Murray, 2nd Earl of Mansfield (qv); d. 17 Feb 1823.
