(aged 8) Nov 1721; KS 1728; left 1730; Ensign, 1st Foot Guards 30 Oct 1734; Capt. and Lieut. -Col., 2 May 1740; Maj., 1 Dec 1747; retired 11 Oct 1748; MP Thetford Feb 1732/3-54, Hereford 1754-68, Heytesbury 1768-74, Thetford 1774 - Mar 1782; Master of Tennis Courts, Royal Household 12 Sep 1727 - Jun 1762; Groom Porter to Kings George II and III 8 May 1743 - Dec 1763; Deputy Cofferer of the Household Jul 1765 - Sep 1769; Cursitor, Court of Chancery (I); Deputy Ranger, Whittlebury Forest, from 1749; his marriage brought him the Scudamore family’s estate at Holme Lacy, Herefordshire, and he assumed additional surname of Scudamore 22 Mar 1749; m. 17 Jul 1748 Hon. Frances Scudamore, divorced wife of Henry Scudamore (formerly Somerset), 3rd Duke of Beaufort (qv), and only dau. of James, 3rd Viscount Scudamore (I) MP; d. 19 Aug 1782.
