Jan 1727/8; left 1735; Grand Tour (Italy) 1739-40; Equerry to Frederick, Prince of Wales 29 Oct 1742-51; MP Seaford 9 May 1744-7, 1754-80; succ. father as 2nd Viscount Gage (I) 21 Dec 1754; Paymaster of the Pensions 22 Dec 1755 – Jun 1763, 27 Jul 1765 - Mar 1782 (when post was abolished); created Baron Gage (GB) 17 Oct 1780 and, with remainder, 1 Nov 1790; member Society of Dilettanti 1740/1; m. 3 Feb 1757 Elizabeth, dau. of Samuel Gideon, Stepney, Middlesex, financier, and sister of Sampson Gideon, 1st Baron Eardley (I); d. 11 Oct 1791.
