Punjab 1908-14; secretary to the Board of Examiners, Calcutta, Feb. 1915; financial assist. to Chief Political Officer, Mesopotamia, Nov. 1915; in charge of Political Mission to Central Arabia Oct. 1917 to Nov. 1918; chief British representative trans-Jordan 1921-4; retired May 1925; Founder's Medal of the Royal Geog.
