Administrative history
Founded in 1861 through the efforts of Mr Charles Mylne Barker. It was founded originally for athletic purposes and membership was limited to Queen's scholars. Shortly afterwards Town Boys and Old Westminsters were also admitted. The club was reconstituted in 1864 and since then the club has been exclusively for Old Westminsters. In 1923 it merged with the Old Westminsters Football and Cricket Club. The aim of the society is to encourage social contact through sporting and social events.

Scope and content
Collection relating to the Elizabethan Club. Contains Minute Books of not only the General Committee, but also the Entertainment. Games and Annual General meetings and Old Westminster Football Club. Includes Reports and Rules of the Club. These state the rules of the Club, also give annual reports and accounts as well as a list of members. Also contains a limited number of financial records including ledgers of termly payments and correspondence with banks. Some records of social events also survive detailing arrangements for annual dinners. The collection is incomplete with most records coming from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

This material has been arranged into four subseries: Minutes, Reports and Rules, Finance, and Social. Both Minutes, and Reports and Rules contain membership lists of the society and of school leavers.
