Lincoln’s Inn 13 Jun 1751, called to bar 30 May 1758; Secretary to Embassy, Venice May 1761 – Jun 1763; a Commissioner of Excise 1765-74; Receiver-General of Land Tax, Middlesex, from 1764; assumed surname of Howard in lieu of Bagot 29 Apr 1783; obtained by his marriage the Howard family estates at Ashtead, Surrey, Elford, Staffs., and Levens Hall, Westmorland; m. 20 Mar 1783 Hon. Frances Howard, only dau. of William Howard, Viscount Andover MP, and sister of Henry Bowes Howard, 12th Earl of Suffolk and 5th Earl of Berkshire; d. 12 Nov 1818.
