Apparently PE on behalf of his sister-in-law Mary Elmsley (nee Hallowell) has questioned whether Henry Bedford can forward letters to Mary's brother Admiral Sir Benjamin Hallowell Carew. Would like to accompany PE to Cambridge, but the notice is too short and his father is unwell.
Encloses a bill from the Ordnance Office. Is riding with the LHV (Light Horse Volunteers of London and Westminster?)- tells the story of a letter from a battle field - 'Napoleon has had a horse killed under him, and Cambaceres (well-known homosexual) a drummer.'
A bill of Mrs Elmsley has been accepted at the Treasury. Has just returned from visiting Bignor Roman Villa (discovered three years previously), Petworth, Chichester Cathedral and Chertsey Abbey (being dug up by the owner for materials).
Encloses Mrs Elmsley's bill. Hopes she hasn't suffered seriously from her fall. Has begun a poem, which if finished must be dedicated to PE. Negotiating for Wynn about a school (?).
