PE thanked for commenting on B's (warm) review of PE's Heraclidae (?). Visit to Oxford and meeting with Gaisford. Sales of Museum Criticum - Murray (see Row 174) has printed 1,000 copies, whereas the total possible readership must be ca.300! Proposed visit to London, where he hopes to met PE (apparently for the first time) - PE has vetoed The Grecian, so B suggests The Hummums. Typos in Valpy's Iconographie. Breaking of relations with Edinburgh Review (who have published an article he tried to recall), on religious grounds. Review of PE's Heraclidae to appear in the Quarterly (Review?). News from Berlin, via B's brother - Wolf (some views on English scholars, inc. Porson), Bekker, Bothe; lack of books blamed on rapacity of English booksellers.

Unhappy that PE does not contribute to the Museum Criticum but rather to the Classical Journal (despite criticising the latter). B's brother has given the Museum Criticum to Wolf in Berlin, and brought back a number of Greek publications.

Loss of only child. Possible reconciliation with Butler? B's review of PE in Quarterly Review. Printing errors in Museum Criticum. Books from continent held up by weather. Persae ready apart from collation of one ms. Barker mounting a campaign against Monk.

PE apparently in or en route to Rome. Asks him to get someone to collate any mss. of Aeshylus he comes across (and will pay). Also to buy a Eustathius if he finds one. Also anything recent by Boissonade.

PE went ballooning in Paris. Praise of Boissonade. Gaisford has published 1st vol. of Poetae Minores. Parisian scholars - has just got the 1st vol. of Bekker's Anecdota. Progress of printing the Persae - has made a hasty collation of a Persae ms. at Lambeth...should he therefore send a copy to the archbishop? 900 copies of the Septem have been sold out of a 1,000 printed.

Abuse of Classical Journal, and refusal to contribute any more. Pursuit of stray mss of Aesch. About to review Butler Vol 2 in the Ed Rev - abuse thereof (and of Schutz).
