Various textual observations. Jokes re low cost of foreign Greek books. Hermann's views on Porson - he has sent B some books; B hopes that Hermann doesn't know that B wrote a review of his Photius in the Edinburgh Review.
Inadequacy of own work. Sorry to hear of PE's change of plan re Sophocles. Praise for first sheet of OT (sent by Collingwood). PE should assert claim to emendations etc. which have been forestalled in Erdfurt's edition - should also publish Aj. Or OC, neither of which Erdfurt has yet done. G. has just been ordained.
C Goddard - has sent some notes to Collingwood (see row 49 - from the Press?). Cannot work for the moment as his son has an obstruction of the mesenteric glands. Ref to Lord G. (Grenville? - see 49).
Goodenough (Westminster HM 1819-1828) begs PE not to do any work on the 'Choruses,' unless he has something already worked out, but to concentrate on the proposed sermon. Robert Cockerell has 'reserved his stomach for the venison at Mr Bigge's (John Bigge OW, a near contemporary of Cockerell?). Mentions a Theban based play at the Theatre, Tottenham Street.
Thanks PE for Heraclidae. Monk not the author of some 'silly' letters in the Gentleman's Magazine. Seeking another volume of Classical Recreations (by Barker, dedicated to Parr, printed by Valpy, publ. 1812).
