Letter from C.R. Bates, 1st July 1945. Chair manufacturers - will visit Westminster Abbey in the next week or two to take particulars of chairs. Pencilled note - Harold Costley White impressed by chairs in Washington D.C. Cathedral, learned that they were made by Bates of Stokenchurch, and persuaded the Chapter that they should be copied for Gloucester. Reference to Westminster Abbey therefore unclear!
