Letter from Isabel Sykes, 18th August 1957. Likes Dinner at Antoine's. On the difficulties of being a grandparent.
Letter from Isabel Sykes, 10 July 1956. About to be granted a Faculty for the church - wording and a drawing are involved (see previous letters from Sykes), so possibly this is the memorial to her husband, dedicated in Chirton church in October, 1957.
Letter from Isabel Sykes, 10th February. Thanks for 'bread and butter letter.' Presumably before mid 1954, since she refers to her husband being in the Bristol Sailors' Society (see previous letters).
Letter from Isabel Sykes, 13th June 1960. Recalls a day in June 1959 during their trip to the Italian Lakes. Future European travel plans.
Letter from Isabel Sykes, 7th April 1955. Thanks for advice about the (church?) clock. Potted remarks about Max Beerbohm. Odd to be without newspapers (Fleet Street strike from 26/3 to 21/4).
Letter from Isabel Sykes, 26th October 1955. Lovely to have Harold Costley White taking part in the service. Her son Bonar and his wife have just flown off (to Germany?). (There is no year attached to the letter, although it is among others from 1955 - if it is in fact 1954, then the service could possibly be the funeral of her husband Frederick, who died 30/9/54.)
Letter from Isabel Sykes, 4th October 1954. Thanks for conducting a service - presumably the funeral of her husband (see Part previous letter).
Letter from Isabel Sykes, 12th August. Sorry to hear of Harold Costley White's accident.
Letter from Isabel Sykes, 3rd July 1959. Thoughts on Catullus, and on Randolph Churchill's recently published book (The Rise and Fall of Sir Anthony Eden). An Oxford historian said of Randolph: 'he is greedy, envious and indignant, and his book will do something to gratify the desires implied in all those qualities. Has apparently just been on a trip with the CWs to the Italian Lakes.
Letter from Isabel Sykes, 3rd May 1955. Thanks for advice on an architectural issue.
