Letter from Jamie Whitworth, 17th October 1965. Addressed to both Harold and Hope Costly-White. Grandson at Eton - the son of Isabel. Thanks for the music (apparently Chopin). Have they seen the Eton documentary on television? The boys have been given all the unused footage, so they can possibly make another documentary. Taking A Levels next summer.
Letter from Jean de Pange, 9th January 1947. In French, thanking Harold Costley White for his two letters. On the history and status of coronation rites (de Pange published 'Le Roi tres chretien' in 1949). Grateful for the affection shown towards his son Victor (who studied at Oxford), and most touched by a letter from Hope Costley White, saying that in talking to Victor she sometimes thought she was talking to Maurice (another son, who died in 1929).

Letter from Jewell Magnus, 8th August 1945. Thanks Harold Costley White for a testimonial for her husband Philip (OW, so Harold Costley White was his Head Master - see 26 for outcome ). In their 2 years of marriage they have only been together for 1 month - but she hears that Philip has been doing great things in Italy.

Letter from J.K. Stacy. Col. US Army - see previous letters. Enclosing another copy of A Dean Not Red (return postage sticker attached). Apologises for the unauthorised appearance in the press of a letter from Harold Costley White explaining his stand on Russia - he had sent it to a friend/acquaintance. All probably referring to 'The Red Dean of Canterbury,' Hewlett Johnson. Includes separate postage stamp.
Letter from J.K. Stacy, 20th January 1948. Addressed to both Harold and Hope Costly-White. From Washington. Thanks for the Gloucester Cathedral calendar - could see the Cathedral from his room in Cheltenham. Will send a parcel of sugar - often thinks of British rationing when he is having a particularly good meal.
