Letter from Leigh Ashton, 4th February 1948. Director of V&A. Shortage of staff means that he cannot send down a craftsman to give advice about the door in the South Porch of the Cathedral. Suggests the Central Council for the Care of Churches.
Letter from Lawrence Tanner, 9th February 1952. Sympathy re Harold Costley White's phlebitis. Holiday in Sidmouth. Recollections of Boat House - two loyal OWW always there to help, Manisty (Herbert - 'My word' as he always said) and Phillimore (uncertain which one!). Harold Costley White is 'father of water at Westminster and Gloucester (see Previous letters). 'What sad days we live in - may we have again "the spacious days of great Elizabeth."'
