From Dropmore. Looking for a house in London - wife to be confined in less that two months. Bedford returned from Southey to Town, but not recovered and may have to retire from the Exchequer since the other clerks are grumbling - hard for a man of 38 to regulate the remainder of his life on a pension. But perhaps he will be happier and healthier on
PE has warned of hostile review of TG to appear in Edinburgh Review - wants to know name of reviewer. Notes on a scholion in Villoison,plus some remarks on the habits of scribes..
Asks if PE will be present at the Westminster meeting on Saturday. Wynn will be dining with Bedford. (NB Watkin Williams-Wynn used to present a guinea to each Welsh boy at Westminster on St David's day - a Friday in 1811.)
Jeffrey (founder CEQR) can't include PE's review of Blomfield's Prometheus in the current number - it is nearly complete, and there is already a long article full of Greek. It will appear in July - meanwhile he returns the paper and encloses
Suggesting that PE comes to Llangedwin with Southey. Has done his soldiering, and is going to Barmouth for the sea bathing. Concerns about Bedford - his ill-health, and the advisability or otherwise of his taking holidays from the Exchequer - an enforced retirement might ensue.
