House Ledgers

These ledgers were created by the Heads of Ashburnham House and give details of events within the House including sporting achievements, music competitions, plays the House performed, punishments given and anything else the Heads of House thought noteworthy of recording.

Ashburnham House Accounts

This volumes gives details of the income and expenditure of Ashburnham House. Inserted throughout the volume are various receipts for purchases. From Election Term 1950 the ledger records the income and expenditure of the House Store. Records of the House funds continued to be noted in a separate book, but this is not in the archive.

Ashburnham House Warnings Book

This book contains a list of offences for which boys received warnings. Entries include the date, name and offence for which the boys for warned. At the start of each term are details of the Head of House and Monitors who gave these warnings. There are no warnings recorded between 1929 - 1944. In 1941 Homeboarders House combined with Ashburnham House and entries after this date include warnings given to boys from both houses (it is usually indicated to which House the boy belonged). At the end of some terms there are general comments about behaviour within the House.

List of Boys in Ashburnhman House

This file contains details of boys of Ashburnham House. It includes their name, home address, date of birth, date they entered the school, comments on the boy from their preparatory school, a list of subjects in which they achieved 'O' and 'A' levels and comments on their academic development, qualities and interests. Some entries also include comments on the boys' parents and their occupations, and notes on when boys were confirmed. The entries are arranged alphabetically by surname.

Ashburnham House Ledger 1891-1902

This ledger was begun in Play term 1891 by R. R. Campbell (A 1888 - c.1893) and continued by subsequent Heads of House. It gives details of sporting achievements of the House and accounts of matches, lists of those who received the House colours and pinks, names of boys who have left and arrived, the names of monitors and anything else the Heads thought interesting or noteworthy of recording. Early entries include lists of all the fellows in the House. At the beginning of the volume is a short history of Ashburnham House prior to its separation from Homeboarders House in 1891. There is also a list of Heads of House and monitors and Housemasters at the front of the volume. Stuck in throughout the volume are House Lists.

Ashburnham House Ledger 1902-1915

This ledger was kept by the Head of House and gives details of sporting results and accounts of matches, notes on the characters of team members, names of those who received colours, names boys who had arrived and boys who had left the House, details of tannings, those representing the House in school societies, and any other events which the Heads thought interesting to record. Some entries include general summaries of the term or year. At the front of the volume are details of Head of House, Monitors, Housemasters and those who gained pinks. There is also a list of those who received double pinks at the back of the volume. Inserted throughout the volume are House lists, newspaper cuttings and various other notices of events in the House.
