Cambridge 1801, but went to Christ Church, Oxford, matr. 15 May 1801, Canoneer Student; BA 1805; MA 1807; ordained deacon 1806, priest 1807 (both Oxford); Private Secretary and Chaplain to William Henry Cavendish-Bentinck, 3rd Duke of Portland (qv), 1807; Vicar of West Ham, Essex 22 Nov 1809-45; Treasurer, St. Paul’s Cathedral, from 30 Oct 1816; Archdeacon of Essex 14 Nov 1823 – res Jul 1861; Rector of Aldham, Essex 21 Nov 1823-40; a Commissioner to enquire into revenues of Established Church in England and Wales 23 Jun 1832; executor to William Carey (qv), and restored Carey’s Admission Book to the School; d. 29 Sep 1869.
