Middle Temple 9 Nov 1871, called to bar 30 Apr 1875; Oxford circuit; Stipendiary Magistrate, British Guiana 1882-6; Sheriff of Essequibo 1884, and acting Puisne Judge 1884-5; Second Puisne Judge, Jamaica 1886-1903; Chief Justice of Trinidad and Tobago 1903-8, retd.; knighted 9 Nov 1905; a Governor of the School from 21 Nov 1912; m. 11 Jul 1895 Helena Jane, eldest dau. of Izett William Anderson MD, Kingston, Jamaica; d. 13 May 1915.
