(with Samwaies and Triplett) July 1916, matric. Michaelmas 1916; 2nd Lieut. Grenadier Guards Oct. 14, 1916; Lieut. Aug. 5, 1917; served in France and Belgium May 1 - Nov. 27, 1917, when he was severely wounded at Bourlon Wood, and lost his right leg; retired June 4, 1919; on the staff of Spillers Ltd. 1919-26; asst. treasurer (Appeals) Middlesex Hospital 1926-9; advertisement superinten­dent, J. Lyons and Co. 1929-32; asst. sales manager, Cerebos Ltd. 1932-8; joined the staff of Whitbread and Co. Ltd., Brewers, 1938; commercial manager 1949; technical director in charge of Soho since 1957; m. Jan 17, 1924, Sybil Maud Elizabeth, daughter of Col. the Hon. Ranulph Allsopp, of Bournemouth, Hants.; d. 1976.
