PALMER, EDWARD; b. ; adm. ; KS 16 Jan 1608/9; elected to Trinity Coll. Cambridge 1609, adm. scholar 1610, matr. Easter 1610; 1st in “ordo” 1613/4; BA 1613/4; MA 1617 (incorp. Oxford 15 Jul 1617); Fellow, Trinity Coll. 1614 – c. 1621; a candidate for Professorship of Greek 1625, when Robert Creighton (qv) was appointed; an accomplished Greek scholar; James Duport (qv) described Palmer, when seventy years old (i. e. c. 1660), as “Graecae literaturae hodie principem”.
