PECK, FRANCIS, son of Rev. Francis Peck, Rector of Saltwood, Kent, and Margaret Ruck; b. 31 Oct 1685; adm.; QS 1702; elected to Trinity Coll. Cambridge 1706, adm. pens. 28 May 1706, scholar 25 Apr 1707; BA 1709/10; MA 1713; ordained deacon 4 Jun 1710, priest 24 Dec 1710 (both Ely); Vicar of Orlestone, Kent 21 Oct 1710-5; joined the Nonjurors early 1715; the critical meeting, which resulted in the formal split over the Usages controversy, was held at his chambers in Thavies Inn 19 Dec 1717 (Chruch Quarterly Review, xci, 281); took an important part in the preparation of the famous Ancient Liturgies, to which he contributed the preface; m. 1719 Mrs Longford, widow; d. Jan 1724/5.
