Sheppard, Charles Westcar, only son of William John Sheppard, M.D., of Putney, by Ellen Mary, daughter of Sir George Henry Chambers, Kt., of Langley Park, Kent; b. Feb. 11, 1882; adm. from Charterhouse School Jan. 21, 1897 (G); left April 1900; Crystal Palace Engineering Coll. 1901-3; Assoc. M.Inst.C.E.; enlisted in 16th (P.S.) Batt. Middlesex Regt. Sept. 1914; 2nd Lieut. 8th (Serv.) Batt. Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry March 1, 1915; Lieut. Sept. 1, 1916; transferred to R.E. June 1917; went out to the western front Sept. 1915 and to Salonika Nov. 1915; returned home and was employed at the Air Ministry; mentioned in despatches L. =G. July 13, 1917; d. Oct. 29, 1918.
