Whitmore, Dennett Hersee, elder son of Frederick John Whitmore (q.v.); b. Jan. 13, 1883; adm. Sept. 24, 1896 (G); left April 1901; in Colonial Govt. service with Nigerian Railways; Colour-Sergt. Nigerian Regt. July 21, 1917; served in East Africa July 1917 - March 1918; returned to England and was for some years in the Home Civil Service; m. Feb. 26, 1921, Gertrude Mary, widow of Capt. Richard Leahy, R.G.A., and daughter of Richard Chambers; d. May 21, 1956.
