Ablett, Charles Antony, only son of Thomas Robert Ablett, of Westminster, by Janet, daughter of Robert Crump, of Beverley, Yorks; b. April 30, 1881; adm. Sept. 27, 1894 (A); left July 1896; at Oundle School 1896-9; gained the Clothworkers' Scholarship at the City and Guilds Central Technical College 1900; B.Sc. (London) 1906; joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force and served in France 1916; Director of Munitions, Ireland, with the rank of Capt. R.E. 1917-8; O.B.E. June 3, 1919; chartered civil engineer; M.Inst.C.E.; chairman and managing director of the Cooper Roller Bearings Co. Ltd.; hon. vice-president of the Iron and Steel Institute 1949; m. Dec. 20, 1915, Mary Louise, elder daughter of George Bean, of Melmerby, Yorks; d. July 18, 1955.
