EDWARDS, JOHN, second son of John Edwards, Stansty, Wrexham, Denbighshire, and Janet, dau. of Edward Jones ab John, Fron Deg, Denbighshire; b.; adm.; KS; elected to Christ Church, Oxford 1629, matr. 26 Oct 1632, aged 20, Westminster Student, subsequently Physic Faculty Student; BA 1633; MB; physician to Charles I; when ordered to appear before the Parliamentary Visitors 3 May 1648, Edwards, with Richard Howe (qv), Thomas Terrent (qv) and five others, “rose up from the table where they sate at dinner and contemptuously departed, after some scornefull words spoken, and refused to appeare” (Burrows, 33 : there is however no record of his expulsion); d. 14 Jul 1650, aged 40 (sic) (Hearne, viii, 342).
