Oxford, matr. 30 Nov 1835; migrated to Magdalen Coll., demy 1836-43, fellow 1843-52; BA 1840; MA 1842; Master of Magdalen Coll. School Mar-May 1844; assistant master, Winchester Coll., 1844-51; ordained deacon 20 Dec 1846, priest 7 Mar 1852 (both Oxford); Curate, Greinton, Somerset 1853-4; Chaplain, Bromley Coll., Kent 25 Jun 1855-67; Vicar of Dry Sandford, with Cothill, Berks., 21 Sep 1867-78; Vicar of Old Shoreham, Sussex 15 Jul 1878-96; author, Wykehamica, 1878, and of numerous books for boys; m. 6 Jul 1852 Esther Pell, second dau. of Rev.
