        BARTMAN, GEORGE, illegitimate son of Hon. Thomas Hervey (qv), and Mary Bartman, Lisson Grove, Paddington, Middlesex, widow; b.; adm. (aged 12) Oct 1743 (Bourne's); left 1749; Ensign, 17th Foot 20 Aug 1751; Lieut., 50th Foot 17 Sep 1754; 34th Foot 25 Aug 1756; Capt., 44th Foot 25 Dec 1756; served in war against French in North America; killed in unsuccessful attack on Ticonderoga 8 Jul 1758.
