BEAUMONT, JOHN, son of Gilbert Beaumont, Whatfield, Suffolk; b.; adm.; QS in 1566; elected head to Trinity Coll. Cambridge 1568, adm. scholar 1570; BA 1572/3; MA 1576 (incorp. Oxford 11 Jul 1581); BD 1583; Fellow of Trinity Coll. 1575-81; see Camdeni Epistola, 1691, 343-4, for a letter written by Beaumont to Camden, dated 29 Apr 1578; ordained; Rector of Whatfield, Suffolk, from 1581; Rector of Aldham, Suffolk, 1583-95; preached at Norwich at the burning of Peter Cole, a tanner of Ipswich, for blasphemy, 1587; Rector of Hadleigh, Suffolk, from 1592; buried at Hadleigh 27 Apr 1599.
