(G) 29 Jan 1852; left 1855; King’s Coll. London; apprentice engineer at Sir William Armstrong’s Elswick works 1856-60; AMICE 6 Dec 1864, MICE 7 Mar 1871; MIME; chairman, R. & W. Hawthorn Leslie & Co.
