Gray’s Inn 14 Nov 1754; Attorney-Gen., North Carolina 23 May 1767; Judge of Vice-Admiralty Court, North Carolina; member for Brunswick Co., House of Assembly, North Carolina; member HM Council, North Carolina 1774-; taken prisoner and his house plundered by American forces in 1781, but soon afterwards released and returned to England on conclusion of peace; d. 27 May 1803.
