Cambridge 1785, adm. pens. 25 May 1785, scholar 1786; BA 1789; MA 1792; an Usher at the School 4 Oct 1788 – Dec 1802, when he and Mrs Clapham were conducting the boarding house at 1 Little Dean’s Yard (Tanner, Westminster School its buildings and associations, 1923, 61, n. 2); his cash book for 27 Jan 1789 – 15 Dec 1802, giving an account of the sums of money received by him for private tuition, etc., is preserved among the Spencer Stanhope MSS in the Brotherton Library, University of Leeds; ordained deacon 1793 (Norwich, lit. dim. from York), priest 1793 (Exeter, lit. dim. from York); Vicar of Silkstone, Yorks., 1799; Vicar of Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, from 10 May 1804; Master, Hospital of St. Mary Magdalene, Newcastle upon Tyne; d. 22 Jan 1826, aged 60.
