Oxford 1784-9; adm. Inner Temple year 1777/8, called to bar 1788; MP Sussex 1820-30; partner, Curteis & Co, Rye, Sussex, bankers, to 1811; George Colman’s “honest, openhearted quondam friend Jerry Curteis, as we familiarly called him at Westminster and at Oxford” (Colman, Random Records, I, 305); m. 14 Apr 1789 Mary, only dau. of Rev.
