DASENT, ALEXANDER, son of John Roche Dasent (qv) and his second wife; b. 30 Apr 1819; adm. 14 Apr 1830 (Stelfox's); King’s Coll. Sch. 1833-5; went to West Indies 1840; ordained deacon 1843, priest 1844 (both Carlisle); held a curacy in St. Vincent; Rector of Recquia, St. Vincent, West Indies 1851-4; in New Zealand by 1864; Vicar of Karori, Wellington, New Zealand 16 Jan 1882- Jun 1897; m. 13 Oct 1847 Caroline Mayer, second dau. of George Colquhoun Grant, Treasurer of St. Vincent; d. at Karori 22 Sep 1905.
