DRUMMOND, GORDON, elder son of Gen. Sir Gordon Drummond GCB, and Margaret, eldest dau. of William Russell, Brancepeth Castle, co. Durham, colliery proprietor; nephew of John Drummond (adm. 1765, qv, if correctly identified); b. 8 Mar 1809; adm. 20 Jun 1821 (Stelfox's); Min. Can. 1822; Ensign and Lieut. , 2nd Foot Guards 10 Jun 1826; Lieut. and Capt. , 3 Aug 1830; Maj. in Army 3 Aug 1830; Lieut. -Col. in Army 29 Mar 1844; Maj. , 2nd Foot Guards 20 Jun 1854; Col. in Army 20 Jun 1854; served in Crimean War and commanded 1st battalion Coldstream Guards at fall of Sevastopol; m. 11 Nov 1837 Margaret Maria, dau. of Rev. Philip Le Geyt, Vicar of Marden, Kent; d. 17 Nov 1856.
