        DYER, SIR THOMAS SWINNERTON, BART., brother of Richard Swinnerton Dyer (qv); b. 6 Oct 1770; adm. 26 Jun 1780; entered Royal Navy 1782; Lieut., 29 Jun 1793; Commander 12 Jul 1810; served at relief of Gibraltar 1782, occupation of Toulon, action in Tunis Bay, and on Hotham’s second action 1795; as Lieut. on HMS Vesuvius, commanded one of the boats in attack on flotilla at Boulogne 1805; out-pensioner, Greenwich Hospital 24 Apr 1837; succeeded his cousin as 8th baronet 12 Apr 1838; m. 11 Apr 1814 Mary Davis; d. 27 Mar 1854.
