Andrew Grant, Rector of Wickhambrook, Suffolk; b.; adm. 7 Jun 1779; left 1780; entered Royal Navy 6 Apr 1780, as captain’s servant on HMS Bedford; Lieut., 1 Dec 1787; Commander, 12 Sep 1795; while in command of HM sloop Spencer he captured the French corvette Le Volcan off Bermuda in May 1796; Post Captain, 5 Apr 1798; Resident Naval Commissioner at Bermuda 1810; Rear-Adm., 27 May 1825; m. [by 1808] ---, dau. of --- Ichoaddan [sic, check spelling], Bermuda; d. in Jersey 6 Jun 1826.
