        FORD, SIR RICHARD, brother of Thomas Ford (qv); b.; adm. 3 Jun 1765; left Christmas 1774; adm. Lincoln’s Inn 13 Nov 1777, called to bar 18 Nov 1782; formed a connection with Dorothy Bland (the actress Mrs Jordan), which lasted until she became the mistress of the future King William IV; MP East Grinstead 27 Feb 1789-90, Appleby 1790 - May 1791; Police Magistrate at Shadwell 1792-6, Bow Street from 1797, Chief Magistrate from 1800; knighted 16 Dec 1801; originator of the Bow Street Horse Patrol 1805; member, board of management, Drury Lane Theatre 1802; m. Marianne, dau. of Benjamin Booth, The Adelphi, Westminster; d. 3 May 1806, aged 47.
