        FOWKE, RICHARD, son of John Fowke, Gunston, Staffs., and Joyce, dau. of Richard March, Stepney, Middlesex, Gentleman Usher Daily Waiter to Charles I and II; b.; adm. c. 1662; KS 1666; from a letter written by Sir Joseph Williamson (qv) to the Dean of Christ Church, dated Whitehall 6 May 1669, it appears that Richard March had petitioned the King for the election of his grandson to Christ Church, Oxford (CSP Dom 1668-9, 314-5); elected to Trinity Coll. Cambridge 1669, adm. pens. 28 Jun 1669, scholar 1670; 5th in “ordo” 1672/3; BA 1672/3; MA 1676; Fellow, Trinity Coll., 1674; signed for deacon’s and priest’s orders 11 Jun 1674 (both London); Vicar of Great Stanmore, Middlesex, 12 Apr 1677-86; Rector of Greystoke, Cumberland, from 1686; m. 1 May 1677 Elizabeth (IGI) (or Joyce ?), dau. of Sir Humphrey Sydenham, Kt., Chelworth, Somerset; buried Greystoke 19 Feb 1692/3.
