Geddington, Northants 29 Jun 1851 ; ed Uppingham Sch. and St.Mary Hall, Oxford, matr. 28 Apr 1870, aged 18, and Pembroke Coll.Oxford, scholar 1870 ; BA 1874 ; MA 1877 ; Assistant Master (Classics) Jan 1876 – Aug 1885 ; House Master of Home Boarders at 1 Dean’s Yard Sep 1882 – Dec 1884 ; Head Master of Park House School, Southborough, Tunbridge Wells, Kent (a preparatory school) 1885-1908, initially jointly with Ernest Murray Blackburn (qv) ; latterly an editor for classical texts with Oxford University Press ; author, A Greek Reader for Schools, 1917, and of editions of Latin authors ; m. 15 Aug 1885 Louisa Petitot, dau. of William Penrose, Glenmore, Queenstown, co.Cork, Ireland (sister of wife of Arthur Sloman, see entry below) ; d. 18 Nov 1921.
